Now Little Lady Luscious spotted this act whilst working on burlesque idol. Quite frankly it was, yes, you need to join us at Luscious Cabaret and we need to find out a bit more about you both. Get your cup of tea and enjoy …
Tell us a bit about why you decided to start performing.
I’ve been performing since a kiddy: I guess I always was a bit of a show off. I used to force my cousins to enact out plays based on the Lord of the Rings with me when I was little. I fell in love with Dance as a teenager, and grew up to be a belly dancer: that’s where Hate Pixie and I met, we’ve been collaborating together for years. I started performing Burlesque because I couldn’t resist the lure of creating acts with amazing, many layered costuming, and I love seeing women proud of their sexiness onstage. There are things you can’t do with dance that you can do with Burlesque.
How do the two of you come up with a new act or routine? Give us some insight to your creative process.
I usually have a costume I really want to make, or a piece of music I am mad in love with, or a time period I am obsessed with researching undergarments for. I’ll have a vision of sound and colour, and it needs to happen.
What’s your next challenge in life or in performing?
I want to try creating a drop dead sexy classic burlesque act: just a lady taking off sparkly clothes, no period costuming (!). I think that would be a challenge! Also, Catherine and I are planning our next burlesque show, the Honeysuckle Revue, for late March in London and Cambridge, so the hustle and choreographing will happen soon for that.
What’s your favourite thing about cabaret?
Freedom. You can be or do anything you want to be: there are no limits.
Where – or for whom – would you most like to perform one day?
I want to perform in Paris, with our Honeysuckle Sweetheart Dance Company. That’s my current dream.
Tell us how you’d spend an ideal day off.
Cuddling puppies, dancing Bachata with hot partners to a live band, swimming in the ocean bothering lots of fishes on a tropical reef, and then a delicious veggie dinner as the sun sets. After the dinner, someone comes up and gives us both lots of free money. Perfect.
Current TV guilty pleasure?
Crazy Ex Girlfriend
Without giving too much away, what can we expect from your act?
Did you always think Jane Austen stories would be better if they had more lesbians in them? So did we.
